Collect signups with a form
2 min read · Updated
Forms turn website visitors into subscribers. Every submission creates or updates a contact and adds them to the list you choose, with the consent they gave recorded against them.
Create the form
- Go to Forms and create a form. Its name is for you only; visitors never see it.
- Under Subscribers go to, choose the list new signups join. Create a list first if you have none.
- Add fields from the left-hand panel. Select a field in the preview to edit its label, placeholder and whether it is required.
Field types
| Field | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Text | Short answers: first name, city, anything on one line. |
| Paragraph | A few lines of free text. |
| Number | Team size, quantity. |
| Phone | Stored as the contact’s phone number. |
| Dropdown | A closed set of choices. |
| Checkbox | A yes or no answer, such as “Send me the weekly digest”. |
| Consent | The GDPR opt-in tick. One per form. |
| Hidden | Attribution the visitor never sees, such as the page or campaign that brought them. |
Each field can be saved to a contact field or custom property, or kept on the submission only.
Confirmation, success message and allowed websites
- Confirmation email: follow the list’s own double opt-in setting, always ask new subscribers to confirm, or never ask.
- After a successful signup: the message people see once they submit.
- Websites allowed to embed this: one address per line, for example
https://example.com. A submission from any other site is rejected, which stops people copying your form onto pages you do not control.
The Style options set the button label, corner radius, width, and where labels sit: above each field, inline on one row, or hidden with the placeholder only.
Publish
Only a published form accepts submissions. Select Publish when the fields look right. Changes you make afterwards go live without replacing the code you embedded. Unpublish stops new submissions straight away.
The Forms page shows views and submissions for each form. To start a welcome series for new signups, create an automation triggered by “contact joins a list” on the form’s list.
