Deliverability & compliance
Unsubscribes, suppression and consent
1 min read · Updated
Respecting unsubscribes quickly is both the law and good for deliverability. Most of it happens without you doing anything; this guide explains what Sendtim does and where to look.
One-click unsubscribe
Every campaign carries the headers Gmail and Yahoo use to show their own Unsubscribe button next to the sender name. Clicking it, or the unsubscribe link in your footer, opts the person out at once, with no login and no extra form. Campaigns already on their way re-check before each send.
The email preferences link lets people manage which lists they are on instead of leaving altogether. Both links come from the merge tags {{unsubscribe_url}} and {{preferences_url}}, and the Footer block includes them.
Contact statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Subscribed | Receives campaigns sent to their lists and segments. |
| Pending | Waiting to confirm a double opt-in. |
| Unsubscribed | Opted out. Excluded from every campaign. |
| Bounced | The address could not receive mail. Excluded. |
| Complained | Marked a message as spam. Excluded. |
The suppression list
Suppressed addresses never receive mail from your workspace, whatever list, segment or import they turn up in. You can review the list in Settings → Suppression list. The sunset automation can add dormant contacts to it.
Consent records
Sendtim stores when each contact gave consent and where it came from: a signup form, an import, the API, or a contact added by hand. Only mark an import as consented if you can show where that consent came from.
Settings → Data protection holds the GDPR tools for your workspace, including how long raw event data is kept.
