Connect Clay to Sendtim
2 min read · Updated
Clay can call the Sendtim REST API to create or update contacts. It can also import Sendtim contacts from the API. These instructions use the features available in both products today.
Send Clay contacts to Sendtim
- Create an API key in Settings → API. In Clay, add an HTTP API enrichment and save the key in an HTTP API (Headers) account as
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY. - On the Configure tab, use
PUT https://sendtim.com/api/v1/contactswith a JSON body containing at leastemail. Map Clay columns to Sendtim fields such asfirstName,lastNameandcompany. - Test one row, then run the column for the rows you intend to sync. Use Only run if to skip rows without an email.
{
"email": "/Email",
"firstName": "/First Name",
"company": "/Company"
}In Clay, replace each /Column Name example with the matching column token from your own table. Put string tokens in JSON quotes. Set consentGiven: true only when you have proof that the person opted in to marketing; enrichment alone is not consent.
Import Sendtim contacts into Clay
In Clay, choose Import data from an HTTP API as a source. Call GET https://sendtim.com/api/v1/contacts?page=1&pageSize=100, use the same saved bearer account, set the results path to data, and paginate with the page query parameter. Map fields such as email, first_name and status into Clay columns. This is an API import, not an automatic event stream.
Sendtim’s Contact webhooks are inbound signup URLs. They cannot send contact events to a Clay webhook URL. For ongoing outbound sync, repeat the API import or use an intermediary that polls Sendtim and posts JSON to Clay.
Use a signup webhook for opted-in Clay rows
If you only need to submit genuine signups, create a Contact webhook in Settings → Integrations and use Clay HTTP API to POST JSON to its URL. Send email and consent: true only for a row that represents an actual signup. The webhook records consent and can add the contact to its configured list. Its 200 response does not reveal whether an address was new, already existed or was suppressed, so use PUT /contacts for a reliable data sync.
Start an automation from Clay
Create an active automation with a manual trigger in Sendtim. After the contact upsert succeeds, take its response id and send a second Clay HTTP API request: POST https://sendtim.com/api/v1/automations/AUTOMATION_ID/trigger with JSON body { "contactId": "CONTACT_ID" }. The automation endpoint needs an existing Sendtim contact ID, not an email address.
The API reference describes authentication and limits. Clay’s HTTP API guide describes its enrichment and source setup.
